Children's Privacy Notice
Version 2026-10-15 · Draft for legal review before launch.
Code Quest is a learning adventure for children. A parent or guardian (or a school acting on a parent's behalf for classroom use) must give permission before a child can play.
What we collect from children
- A nickname or initials chosen by the adult — never a full name, email, address, photo or location.
- Mission answers, written reflections, progress and awards.
- Play time used, and accessibility settings (text size, motion, narration).
Why
Only to run the lessons, show progress to the child's adult, and enforce the time limits the adult sets. No advertising, no selling or sharing data, no behavioral profiling, and no public chat or profiles.
Who can see it
Only the adult who added the child (parent, homeschool educator or teacher). The child can see their own progress.
How long we keep it
Until the adult deletes it. Schools can set a retention period; class data inactive longer than that period is deleted automatically.
Parent rights
- Review and export your child's data at any time from the adult dashboard.
- Withdraw consent — your child is signed out immediately and can't play until you consent again.
- Permanently delete your child's data.
- If your child plays through school, you can ask the teacher or school to do any of the above.
